Water
Up one levelWater is a precious and critical resource for all life everywhere, but we are particularly aware of it here in the desert.
-
Erosion Control
- The problem in our high desert is not that there isn't any water, it is hanging on to the water we get. It rains and snows in moderate amounts where we are, but most of the water just runs away down washes taking sand and soil with it.
-
Our Well
- The well itself is at 260 feet and the pump is mounted at 140 feet. Our water level is actually at 110 feet and is sunk in the Coconino water aquifer. Our water tank is 1500 gallons. We spent approximately $10,000 for our well and tank system.
-
Rain Catch
- Catching water that comes out of the sky is a lot easier than pumping it up out of the ground. Since we get most of our rainfall in two short time periods during the year, storing the water collected is really the big trick.
-
Grey Water
- Grey water is difficult to get implemented within the bounds of building codes and local regulations.
