These are movies that all Animated Humans will love... see 'em if you haven't. Jonathan and Lillith Avalon can recommend these to you without hestitation or reservation. In alphabetical order...

AMERICAN BEAUTY - willfully change your life, quit your corporate job, fantasize about beautiful sensual experiences, get stoned and be happy? Perish the thought. Animated Humans would never do anything like that, would they?.

CHOCOLAT - romantic, beautiful, magickal. Wish we'd seen more of Johnny Depp but the whole cast of eccentric characters is absolutely terrific.

DEAD MAN - a black and white Western bardo story starring Johnny Depp. Need I say more?

DOGMA - Believe in Gods and Angels but not much use for organized religion? Then this movie will crack you up. A funny thinking person's flick. Don't have faith, have a good idea.

DON JUAN DE MARCO - a Johnny Depp flick with the added bonus of a humorous and lightly played Marlon Brando. This is one of Jonathan's favorite flicks and explains a lot about his romantic and mythologized way of interacting with reality. A charming and romantic movie.

FINDING NEVERLAND - ok so we really like Johnny Depp... but he also keeps taking these charming roles that play with the nature of reality. This is a sentimental movie and made Lillith cry. Jonathan says it is not to be missed for the insight it lends to the artistic mind and how we can create our own realities.

HERO - beautiful, graceful, exquisite movie making. Lillith watched it twice the night we rented it. The colors and the elegance of the martial arts and the twists in the plot were incredibly engaging.

THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER - Lillith loves submarine movies and this is the best of the best. Watch Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin at their best.

JOE VS THE VOLCANO - A Tom Hanks sleeper that bombed at the theatre but is our most often re-watched movie. An optimisic fairy tale about modern life. See it. Memorize it. We quote from it and have inside jokes about this movie like some people do Star Trek and Monty Python. Meg Ryan is terrific in multiple roles.

THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST - wow. wow. No really, wow. If your Christianity is really conservative, this one might offend. For the rest of us it is a refreshing view of the new testament's hero.

THE MATRIX - sci fi special effects and story at its best. It will bend your reality. "There is no spoon." There are to sequels to finish out the trilogy, watch them too.

MINDWALK - Where do science and spirituality meet? Here in this movie. You will learn a lot about physics that you never even knew you'd be interested in and it is so easy!

ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD - Read Hamlet first, and become passing familiar with the scientific discoveries of Shakespeare's age and you'll enjoy it even more. We want one of their Theatre troupe's wagons for our very own. This one bears repeated re-watching to see and unravel all the levels of the play.

SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE - It all works out in the end you know. But how? I don't know, it's a mystery. Read Romeo and Juliet and also Twelfth Night before seeing this one, you'll get all the in-jokes. A beautiful movie to watch.

THE SHELTERING SKY - Exquisite views of North Africa as you accompany three travelers on their incredible journey as their lives are completely transformed by the places they visit and the choices they make. Sad and beautiful. This movie has an almost inexplicable connection to and impact on Lillith's life.

THE VILLAGE - A love story, a thriller, an unfolding origami of a story about a group of people who choose to live in a world of 18th century technology, peace and innocence. The acting is superb lead by the likes of William Hurt and Sigourney Weaver. The young actress playing the heroine is brilliant.

WHAT THE #$*! DO WE KNOW!? [a quantum fable] - A very intelligent and interesting treatment of what modern science knows about quantum physics and how that impacts spirituality and reality. There is a lot more information on their web site www.whatthebleep.com. This is thought and discussion provoking even if you don't subscribe to the version of reality it puts forward.
